How to create Airtable Charts with live data

4 simple steps to create dynamic charts in Airtable that automatically update with fresh data from third-party sources

Step 1

Add Data Fetcher

Add the Data Fetcher extension to your Airtable base to enable connections with external data sources and APIs. Then sign up for a free account in the extension.

Step 2

Import external data

Create requests to import data from your favorite apps or APIs. Then schedule automatic syncs to use fresh data in your Airtable graphs.

Step 3

Create an Interface

Create an Airtable interface where your charts and visualizations will live. We recommend using Interface charts for any serious data visualization needs, since they are significantly more flexible than the Chart extension.

Step 4

Build your Airtable charts

Create charts that show exactly what you need. Pick the chart type, customize the axis, labels, and more. As Data Fetcher pulls in new information, your charts update on their own, so everyone sees the latest numbers without any extra work on your part.

Frequently Asked Questions

Airtable interface charts support Bar, Line, Pie, Donut, and Scatter charts. The Chart extension supports the same chart types. We recommend using interface charts since they are more powerful. For example, adding two different y-axis series to the same chart is possible with interface charts, but not with the Chart extension. This is especially useful when visualizing different data sets imported through Data Fetcher, allowing you to compare metrics from various sources in a single view.
